The Tony Danza Army - Repping The Pali Blues
Story originally posted by theoriginalwinger.com

Just got an e-mail about this crew, representing each and every game for the USL / W-League’s Pali Blues. What especially cool about this is that even with the WPS and the women’s game evolving in different directions, these cats still do their thing, on their own terms and in their own style. Here’s Max telling you about it….

“The Pali Blues are the defending champion of USL’s W-League and a lot of us thought their fan support should match the championship caliber play they’ve been producing. That’s why a collection of us have recently formed the Tony Danza Army: a group of hardcore women’s soccer fans who stand for 90 minutes, sing their lungs out, bring large banners, and genuinely commit themselves to the club. This group is the first of its kind for women’s soccer and has gotten rave reviews from players, coaches, and other fans.

It’s a great lesson of what happens when a front office trusts its hardcore fans to be enthusiastic (especially when such teams usually market to preteen girls and their parents). It also demonstrates the evolution of fan culture in American soccer. Once upon a time, there was no Sam’s Army, Nordecke, etc. Now we’re going big, even in women’s semipro!”

Keep doing your thing!
