
Jill Oakes joins the Pali Blues after a very successful collegiate career with UCLA. As a Bruin, Oakes 10 goals and 14 assists. As the only high school player nominated for U.S. Soccer’s "Chevrolet Young Athlete of the Year" Award, Oakes has made an impact with the Youth National teams, winning championship with the U-21s in 2004 and 2005.
2005: Started all 26 matches… Led the Bruin’s defense that surrendered just 12 goals in 26 matches… Contributed offensively registering 12 points on three goals and six assists… A First-Team All-Pac-10 selection and was a member of the all-tournament team at the NCAA College Cup… Also a First-Team NSCAA All-American
2004: Started all 25 matches… Ended the season with eight points on three goals and two assists... Scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over San Diego in the second round of the NCAA Tournament... Also registered the game-winner in a 4-1 victory over Oregon State on 10/8… NSCAA/adidas and Soccer Buzz Second-Team All-American... First-team NSCAA/adidas All-Far West Region... 2003: Appeared in 19 matches, starting 18... Sat out the first six matches of the season while recovering from an injury suffered during the 2002 NCAA Tournament... Ended the season with four points on a goal and two assists ...Scored the game winner in a 2-1 overtime win over Washington State on 10/9... Registered one of her two assists in a 2-0 victory over Pepperdine in the second round of the NCAA Tournament ...Other assist came against Oregon State on 11/7… Second-team All-Pac-10 selection ...Honorable mention All-Pac-10 Academic selection
2002: Played in 19 matches, starting 18... Ended the season with 10 points on three goals and four assists… Tallied the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Arizona on 10/18... Suffered a season-ending knee injury during UCLA’s 1-0 NCAA Second Round overtime victory over USC... First-team All-Pac-10 selection ...Earned All-America honors from Soccer Buzz and freshman All-America accolades from Soccer America… Following the season, she and teammate Nandi Pryce were named finalists for U.S. Soccer’s Chevy Young Female Athlete of the Year Award
U.S. National Team: 2005: Earned her first cap for the Full Women’s National Team at the 2005 Algarve Cup in Portugal on 4/13… Helped the U.S. U-21s capture their seventh straight Nordic Cup title in Sweden in the summer of 2005, playing every minute of all four games… 2004: Helped the U.S. U-21s capture their sixth-straight Nordic Cup championship in Iceland in the summer... 2002: Called into the full U.S. Women’s National Team for the first time for a training camp… Scored the game-winner in the qualifying game that sent the USA to the 2002 U-19 FIFA World Championship and the clinching goal in the semifinal of that world championship… Started all six games at the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship in Canada, and scored the clinching goal in the semifinal win over Germany on a spectacular strike from outside the box… A member of the 2002 Under-19 CONCACAF Qualifying Team, she helped the USA qualify for the 2002 FIFA Under-19 Women’s World Championship, scoring three goals, including the one that effectively qualified the USA for the world championship, and was named MVP of Group B… 2001: A member of the 2001 U.S. Under-21 Nordic Cup championship team in Norway, one of only two high school players on the team and scored a huge goal against Germany in the USA’s final first round game to earn a 1-1 draw and put the U.S. in the championship game
