Pali Takes Second Game against Victoria 4-0
Pao, Washington, Williams, Eddy score in Blues ninth straight victory

Victoria, BC (June 22, 2012) – The Pali Blues (9-0-0) registered their ninth win of the 2012 W-League season as they defeated the Victoria Highlanders (1-11-0) 4-0 on Saturday night at Royal Athletic Park. In the second meeting between the Blues and Highlanders, the goals were scored by Michelle Pao, Nikki Washington, and Lynn Williams in the first half, and Elizabeth Eddy second half.

Blues defender Michelle Pao opened the scoring just 20 minutes into the match to make it 1-0. Then two quick goals were scored towards the end of the half by Nikki Washington in the 37th minute, and Lynn Williams in the 40th sending the Blues into half time up 3-0.

Second half substitute, Elizabeth Eddy scored in the 70th minute, assisted by Mexican National team memeber Anisa Guajardo, to cap off the scoring for the night.

Goalkeeper Ana Picarelli exited the game in the 79th minute, and Ryan Torrero earned her first minutes in goal for the Blues this season. The two combined for 4 saves and earned Pali’s 6th shutout of the season.

The Blues remain at the top of the Western Conference table with all 27 possible points from 9 matches, and are joined by DC United (7-0-0) and the Atlanta Silverbacks (7-0-1) as the only undefeated teams in the entire league this season.

The Blues will end their trip to the Northwest against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, June 24 at 12 p.m. PT at the Kinsmen Sports Complex.
