Pacific Palisades, Calif. (Wednesday, May 14, 2008) – The Pali Blues Soccer Club (1-0-0) are prepared to play their inaugural home game at the Stadium by the Sea when they host the Los Angeles Legends (0-0-0) this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in this Western Conference match-up.
"Playing our first home game at the Stadium by the Sea is so exciting,” Blues head coach Charlie Naimo exclaimed. “With 628 season tickets sold, the entire organization is grateful to the community, and we cannot wait to unveil our team and operation to our loyal fans."
The Blues are coming off an impressive road win over the Ventura County Fusion this past Saturday in their first-ever contest in the W-League. The offense exploded for five goals in the second half to take home a 5-0 victory over the host Fusion. Midfielder Collette McCallum and forward Rosie Tantillo each notched a pair of second half goals, and forward Danesha Adams delivered two assists. Goalkeeper Valerie Henderson recorded the shutout in net.
With all of the excitement of a home opener in the air, Naimo remains focused on producing for the Pacific Palisades community.
"On the soccer end, our focus is to entertain the fans while we set our sites on the regular season trophy," he commented.
The Legends are led by head coach Jason Surrell. Surrell has served as the head coach of the Azusa Pacific women’s soccer team for the past eight years, leading the Cougars to eight NAIA Tournaments and three national title game appearances. He has been honored six times as the Golden State Athletic Coach of the Year. On the field, the midfield attack will be led by former NAIA All-American Randie Massro, and forward Sarah Yoro looks to lead the way on the offensive front. This marks the first W-League match-up for the Legends.
Tickets for this game and all home match-ups of the Pali Blues are only $10 for adults ($8 with student ID) and $5 for kids under the age of 12. Season tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.bluessoccerclub.com.
