Summary:
The Pali Blues Soccer Club opened their 2008 preseason with a 6-0 win over USC at USC’s Soni McAlister Field in front of about 70 fans.
The Blues opened scoring in the 15th minute of play as Liz Bogus scored. U.S. National Team player Aly Wagner assisted on both the first and later the second goal, 20 minutes later, crossing the ball to Pali Blues forward Danesha Adams. The Blues left the field at half time with a two goal lead.
Four minutes into the second half Katy Cross found the back of the net, with Danesha Adams tallying the assist. Camille Levin helped with the last three goals, setting up Bogus and former USC player Rosie Tantillo.
"I felt that every player on our team had at least a solid performance. We defended extremely well, especially in the final third allowing only one quality chance all game,” Blues head coach Charlie Naimo said about the game. “Where I think we could have been better was decision making after the times we worked hard to win the ball. It felt like we had the ball at least 65 percent of the game and because of that we limited USC’s opportunities but there were a few times they stressed us. We recovered in each of those moments except one, but it is in those few moments that we needed to relax and get our shape before we started attacking."
