PALI BLUES TO HOST
THE BEIJING WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (December 28, 2007)- The Pali Blues Soccer Club announced today that they will host the Beijing Women’s Soccer Team in an international friendly match.  The game will take place on Friday, January 4, 2008, in the newly-renovated "Stadium by the Sea" at Palisades High School at 7:00 p.m.

“We are honored for this opportunity to play such a great team from the Chinese Professional League,” Blues head coach Charlie Naimo stated. “It will also be great for the community to get a taste of what the Blues are bringing to the Palisades in the future.”

The Blues are currently in the process of compiling their inaugural roster. Naimo feels this game will present a great opportunity to analyze some of the players that are pursuing roster spots on the team.

“Although we will be without many key players, including most of our internationals, this game is invaluable,” he commented. “We will take the time to look at many of the local players we will have, and we will possibly use the game as a part of trials for others.”

The Beijing Women Soccer’s Team was founded in 1985. They have won 12 championships and finished as runners-up in an additional 13 tournaments. The team won the 2005 National Sports Tournament and in the following year won the 2006 Chinese National Championship.

Over the past two decades, the Beijing Women’s Soccer Team has had over 20 former players elevated to the Chinese national team. Some of the alumnae include Ailing Liu, Lirong Wen, Yan Jin and Ying Liu. The Beijing Women Soccer Team is recognized by the Beijing Municipal Government as the "San Ba Red Flag Holder," and they were also named the "Advanced Team of National Sports" by the China National Sports Bureau.

The Pali Blues are set to make their W-League debut this summer.  All updates regarding the team will be released through the team website at www.bluessoccerclub.com.
